What is Corneal Refractive Therapy?

Corneal Refractive Therapy, or CRT for short, is a safe, nonsurgical, and reversible treatment, correcting your mild to moderate vision problems. Unlike traditional contact lenses, Paragon CRT lens’ proprietary design is gas-permeable, or breathable, allowing them to be safely worn while you sleep. These specially designed contact lenses work through the night, gently reshaping your cornea, giving you lens-free, clear vision during the day. Paragon CRT lenses have even been shown to aid in slowing the progression of myopia or nearsightedness.

Is CRT Right for You?

Most often, Corneal Refractive Therapy is used to temporarily treat those who suffer from myopia (nearsightedness). CRT has proven to be extremely beneficial for those who are especially active during the day, and those who often suffer from dry, irritable eyes as a result of wearing typical contact lenses. CRT Lenses are especially helpful for children and young adults, specifically those with still-developing or rapidly changing eyes, and those involved in sports or other strenuous activities.

How Soon Can You Expect To See Results?

Once wearing your CRT lenses, you may begin to see results in the clarity of your vision just a couple of days. More typically, a trial period of 2 weeks is suggested before you begin to see the full effects for vision clarity. While you may experience vision clarity for two days or more after a night wearing the lenses, it’s recommended you wear your CRT lenses every night for the best results. FDA run trials showed 65% of test subjects experiencing total, 20/20 vision clarity, with 90% of test subjects experiencing at least 20/40 vision acuity.

Is CRT Safe? Reversible?

Paragon CRT Lenses have been FDA approved since 2002, and have become a widely accepted and leading alternative to LASIK. The temporary nature of the benefits CRT lenses bring means there is minimal risk involved. Your corneas and eyes will return to normal shortly after you stop wearing the lenses.
